IKINEMA Action for Maya

Streaming data from Xsens MVN

IKinema incorporates streaming data functionality from Xsens MVN. This feature is available on Windows builds only. To setup the streaming, the following procedure needs to be executed

  1. Run MVN and select Options -> Preferences -> Miscellaneous
  2. Select: Enable network streaming, Send Scale packets
  3. Set the Protocol and dataset to Quaternion Based Orientations
  4. Specify the destination addresses to localhost:801 or the specific server machine IP:801
  5. Start Playback in MVN

 

 

Run Maya, enable IKinema and from menu IKinema -> Mocap execute

  1. Import Figures from Server - option window
  2. Specify the streaming options as configured in MVN
  3. Make sure that the server IP address is set correctly and corresponds to the setting in MVN
  4. Make sure that the port is set correctly and corresponds to the port as set in MVN
  5. Enable Segment Data
  6. Enable Recording (optional if you wish to record and save the data from MVN as animation curves)
  7. Select OK - this should import the MVN skeleton into Maya viewport;
  8. Repeat Import Figures From Server if the first import attempt was unsuccessful
  9. Select the top transform in the imported character and from menu IKinema -> Mocap execute Prepare Figures for Mocap
  10. Select the top transform in the imported character and from menu IKinema -> Mocap execute Start Mocap Stream
  11. Playback the data in MVN and this will automatically will capture the data in Maya
